Here's What We Do! Established in 1923 by Dean Miller, the pharmacy was located at the corner of Marion and Main Streets (from which its name was derived) and across the street from the Mar-Main Arms apartment building, another South Bend, Indiana landmark. The business remained in the Miller family until 1960 when it was sold to David Zweig. In 1968, the pharmacy was purchased by Charles N. Spiher, who took on business partner Janice Bopp in 1990. In 1998, Janice Bopp became the sole owner of the business. In 1974, to accommodate altered street patterns, the pharmacy was moved to its present location at 426 N. Michigan Street, adjacent to McDonald's Restaurant. Mar-Main Pharmacy is now the only independent pharmacy in South Bend. The past decade has brought major changes to the focus of the business. After 80 years of continuous service to the community, and three renovations, particularly in the compounding of medications and consultation areas, Mar-Main Pharmacy continues to provide unprecedented service to the medical community, educators, and the community at large as a major source of drug information and education.
